The German Donkey Society is currently advocated by 1200 regional members scattered across the country. Owners and breeders living a two way life with these versatile animals.
The Society organizes various activities for all, including country rambles and Junior camps. Our support of animal protection warrants subsidy from the tax department. Advice and useful information is also available to non-members e.g. enquiries about upkeep, nutrition even trouble with the neighbours are free of charge.
The main event of the year (as mentioned earlier) consists of presentations and judging of pedigree donkeys and mules. More than one hundred animals and members and thousands of visitors enjoy an unforgetable weekend topped by staged plays encompassing historic and literary donkey themes.
We plan already our 11th anniversary which will be celebrated at 21th and 22nd August in Gueterloh Germany. We invite all donkey friends from all countries to participate.

The society's main focal point is youth activity. Many opportunities such as equestrian, riding or simply time to spend with the donkeys are offered by the Juniorcamp annually. In each edition of the societies magazine the >Esel-Post< (Donkey Post), is at least one pagfe for our younger enthusiasts. At every society show attractions for children such as storytellers, pets corner and more are always on the agenda.

In almost all countries, our club members meet regularly at fixed venues. This is where various experiences are exchanged, trips with the animals made and demonstrations (for example at horseshows) prepared. Donkey enthusiasts who are not yet members are welcome to check the scene out.
Our PR work has done wonders for the donkey's prestige. Apart from reporting on our own internal activities, we also want to highlight and help to prevent animal cruelty e.g. the use of donkeys as daily transport mode. The demonstration of positive and kind handling is intended to influence positively.
The activities of the group and board changes are discussed and repectively voted upon bi-annually.
Here we deal with all members and non-members enquire about the society.
Here we try to find a suitable home for the varying personlitites and abilities for a long list of client donkeys. The service is free of charge but would obviously welcome any donations to improve our service and secure future viability and popularity.
